Obituary for Paul L. Robar

CHARLTON: Paul L. Robar, 66, passed away at home on August 31, 2023. He leaves behind his cherished daughter Jillian Robar, his siblings William Robar and wife Carol, Joan Pullen, and husband Gilmer, Timothy Robar and wife Diane, and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Robar, and sister, Carolyn Mossa.

Paul was born February 8, 1957, in Worcester, the son of the late Laura (McClure) and Burleigh Robar. Prior to building a home in Charlton, where he lived happily for many years, his roots were firmly planted in South Grafton. He spent his career working for Barrday Corporation, formerly known as Polyclad Laminates in Millbury.

Giving back to the community was important to Paul. He took great pride in being a member of the Station 3 South Grafton Fire Department and often dominated state muster competitions. Paul enjoyed his family and summered with them often in Provincetown. He especially enjoyed studying genealogy with his brother and would always make an effort to visit relatives in Canada. His greatest joy came from watching his daughter play sports. He never missed a game from her early years through college and was a regular and welcomed fan at her friends' games.

Paul was an athlete and avid sports enthusiast. He was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles, earning him the nickname ‘Cal,’ which was fitting, as he was a shortstop in the Grafton Men’s Softball league for many years. If Paul wasn’t turning a double play, he was certainly watching them. He was a 10-pin bowler with his friends from South Grafton, a Celtics season ticket holder during the Larry Bird era, and a fiercely loyal Patriots and Tom Brady fan (until he left the Patriots). Paul also enjoyed watching NASCAR and attending races, playing golf, and going to PGA events. He would never turn down the chance to go to a horse race at Suffolk Downs or Saratoga and even attended the Kentucky Derby with his daughter and family.

Paul loved rock and roll music, you could always find him on the dance floor. He was even known to be mistaken for Paul McCartney on more than one occasion.

He’ll be remembered for his athleticism, his wonderful sense of humor, his willingness to help others, his ability to make all laugh, and his devotion to his daughter Jillian. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

All are welcome to gather with Paul’s family and friends on Thursday, September 7th from 4 pm to 7 pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. His funeral service will be held Friday, September 8th at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 3 Pleasant St. Sutton, MA 01590. All attending the funeral service are requested to go directly to the church. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association, as Alzheimer's has impacted Paul's family over the years at https://www.alz.org/?form=alz_donate.
