Dear Katrina, John, and Julia,
You know how very sorry I am that you have lost Jake. He was not only a wonderful young man but (in my world), a terrific third grader.
However, what you are not privy to know, is as I was waiting in line to express my condolences to the three of you, I was struck by how many people, exiting Roney's, were wiping their eyes and/or openly sobbing. What a testament to a young man who had only been in our midst for a little under 22 years.
I know you will miss him forever, but so will we all.
