Helen M. Samar (Pappas)
WORCESTER: Helen M. (Pappas) Samar 91, passed away June 11, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born on June 15, 1925 in New Haven, CT she was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Paul Pappas and her beloved husband of 68 years, Arthur Samar. Survived by two daughters, one son and their spouses. Daughter Gayle (Mike) Moses of N. Port, FL, son Paul (Annmarie) Samar of Grafton, MA, daughter Penny (Rick) DeLand of Knoxville, TN. Grandchildren Kristina, Kevin, Sean, Brian and Robert.Great grandson Parker. Brother-in-law and spouse James and Betty Samar, several nieces and nephews. Helen grew up in Willimantic, CT and graduated from Windham High School in 1943. She retired from the University of Connecticut in Storrs and moved to Worcester in 1988. She was also a resident of St. Petersburg FL and enjoyed visiting Knoxville, TN. She was known for her pies and she loved to knit and garden. All are welcome to gather with Helen’s family and friends Wednesday June 14th from 5pm to 8pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton MA 01536. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Helen Thursday June 15th at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church 17 Waterville St. N. Grafton MA 01536. She will then be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Webster.
