Obituary for Raymond Nydam

Raymond Nydam
GRAFTON: Raymond G. “Ray” Nydam, 76, passed away peacefully October 26, 2017 at home. Ray was predeceased by his wife, Susan C. (Putnam) Nydam, in 2006; his parents Peter E. and Gladys (Orff) Nydam; his siblings: Rose Hemenway, Elsie Oosterman, Peter Nydam, Jr., and Austin Nydam. He is survived by his daughter and her husband Carol S. and Robert J. Macchi; his grandchildren, Erik J., Heather R. and Meghan S. Macchi all of Douglas; his son, James E. and his wife Suzanne C. Nydam; his grandson Theodore R. Nydam of Sutton, his longtime companion Lorinda Coston; his siblings Barbara Knaack, Ronald, and Paul Nydam, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ray was born at his family home in Upton November 26, 1940. His roots were there but he lived most of his life in Grafton. Ray and Sue founded Lazy Acres Farm in 1966 growing and selling vegetables until 2003 when the stand was closed. He did however, continue to grow produce and sell firewood to his friends, neighbors and local communities. For many years Ray was also a Press Operator at Baystate Abrasives in Westborough and for a time drove a delivery truck for Pepsi Co. Ray’s hard working hands were rarely at rest throughout his life as he was defined by putting in a hard day’s work with every sunrise. Please honor Ray with a memorial donation in lieu of flowers dedicated to Pancreatic Cancer research to The Lustgarten Foundation 415 Crossways Park Drive Suite D Woodbury, NJ 11797 or online at www.lustgarten.org. All are welcome to gather with Ray’s family Tuesday October 31st from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 1536. A funeral service will be held for Ray Wednesday November 1st at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
