SUTTON: Leslie (Ward) Paine, 85, passed away January 25, 2024 at UMass Memorial in Worcester following an illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Curtis Paine, her children Cynthia Novak and Brian Paine and his dearest girlfriend Nicka, her grandson Troy Novak, sisters Louise Henry and Sally Pullen and her husband Steve and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law George Henry.
Leslie was born August 16, 1938 in Northampton, MA, daughter of the late Mary (Black) and Willard Raymond Ward. Her roots were in Monterey, MA until she met Curtis while they were both studying at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Both she and her husband Curtis became teachers by trade and they moved to Sutton, MA together where they called home for more than 50 years. Leslie taught Kindergarten in the Grafton Public Schools for her entire career spanning more than 30 years. Closer to home she adored her beloved cats, was known for her handwork in making quilts and sewing. She and her husband Curtis enjoyed cruises together and were also active members at The Congregational Church of Grafton.

All are welcome to gather with Leslie’s family and friends at her funeral service Saturday February 3rd at 3pm at The Congregational Church of Grafton on Grafton Common.
