Robert J Malmquist, 71, passed away on Friday 1/5/24 at UMass Medical Center after complications from a stroke and heart attack.

Bob was born in Grafton, MA to Iona and William Malmquist and remained a Grafton resident his entire life. He married Kathleen (Therrien) Malmquist in 1971 and they had four children. Though they divorced they remained close until the day he passed and shared the responsibilities of raising their children.

Bob remarried in 1996 to Debra (Dillon) Malmquist and gained two more children from her previous marriage and treated them as his own.

Bob was predeceased by his mother Iona and father William Malmquist.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie, two sons Rodney and Raymond Malmquist, two daughters Amy Malmquist and Farley Nishanian and her husband Jason, a step-daughter Jennifer Tarka and her husband Michael and a step-son Steven Manseau II and his wife Tausha as well as his brother Jack Malmquist of Grafton. Bob also leaves behind four grand-children: Cori, Ryan & Jessica Malmquist and Hope Lloyd as well as nine step-grandchildren: Lily and Grace Tarka, Steven Manseau III, Brandon, Ian & Nikolas Manseau, Taylor, Justin & Payton Bryan and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Bob was a member of the first graduating class of Blackstone Valley Tech in 1970 and had a long career at Wyman Gordan starting as a machinist in 1969 and retiring in 2013 as an Inspector. He loved to travel and his favorite place to visit was Las Vegas with his wife Debbie. Bob’s favorite place to be was in the woods during hunting season and lovingly provided his family with venison for many years. He was also a Lifetime Member of the North Grafton Fish, Game and Bird Club and spent many hours there with family and friends. Bob was a kind, patient and giving soul and always looked out for others before himself. He was a devoted caregiver for his wife, Debbie, for many years during her battle with dementia. He will be forever be remembered and missed by his many friends and family.

All are welcome to gather with Bob’s family and friends Friday January 12th from 10-11:30am at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a prayer service at 11:30am in the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Grafton.
