Obituary for Maryann Nyren
Maryann Nyren, 60, of Worcester, died peacefully on July 29, 2023 surrounded by her friends and family.
Maryann was the second youngest of eight children born to George and Rita Nyren. She graduated from Minuteman Technical High School in Lexington MA. Her career included time at U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center and she retired from there in 2019.
Known as May May to the kids in her life, she was the greatest auntie to many, many children- some actually related to her, some not, but all loved and cherished and adored. She did her best to never miss a game or a performance or a chance for a visit. Trips for ice cream, bowling and the movies were plentiful. She brought generations of kids in her family so many treats and so much happiness. She loved fishing, music, her cats, her birthday, and time at the beach. Maryann’s friendships stretched from Maine to Worcester to Florida. She was generous, caring and always good for a laugh. She will be dearly missed.
Maryann leaves behind her longtime devoted friends Sam Sinclair and Denise Whitney, her sisters Diane Nyren and Patricia Nyren and brothers George Nyren and Robert Nyren, brothers-in-law Lou Pettit and Brian Riley. She was predeceased by her parents George and Rita Nyren, and her sisters Janet Pettit, Carol Riley and Joan Nyren and sister-in-law and good friend, Debbie Sylvester.
She also leaves her beloved nieces and nephews Jeff Nyren and wife Kristin, Heather Riley and husband Todd Charbonneau, Amy Juelis and husband Craig, Christopher Nyren and wife Katie, Kate Riley and husband Bryan Rotundo, David Pettit and wife Sari, Daniel Pettit and wife Julie, Lisa Newcomb, Michelle Nyren, Patrick Nyren and wife Erin, and Annie Nyren, as well as her cherished great nieces and nephews: Liv, Leif, Jude, Paige, Brooke, Jacob, Emma, Ian, Molly, Finn, Gabe, Karsen, Cody, Joe, Kayla, Liam, Norah, Elizabeth, Toby, and Miles.
