Obituary for Clarke J. Alderman

SUTTON: Clarke James Alderman, 68, passed away on Friday, September 30th at UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his oldest daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Desrosiers and her husband DJ Desrosiers of Sutton, MA and his youngest daughter Kara (Alderman) Kennedy and her husband Nicholas Kennedy, of Cumberland, RI. In addition, he leaves his brothers Raymond Alderman and his wife Kathy of Plainville, CT, and Michael Alderman and his wife Beverly of Hoffman Estates, IL, as well as his mother-in-law Marjorie Fisher of Sutton, MA, and several nieces and nephews. Clarke is predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Cheryl (Fisher) Alderman, who passed away in 2014. Born on February 12, 1954 in New Britain, CT, the son of the late Kathleen (Kenure) Alderman and Raymond Dwight Alderman. Clarke grew up in Bristol, CT, graduating from Bristol Eastern High School in 1972, and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Assumption University in Worcester, MA in 1976. He started off his professional career at Paul Revere Insurance/Unum where he worked for 25 years and met his wife Cheryl. He continued to work in the insurance field for many years, working for several different companies. More recently, Clarke was the Outreach Director at the Sutton Senior Center and always expressed his love for his co-workers and how happy this new career path had made him. He was a recent member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and spoke so highly of his time spent there every Sunday. Clarke spent a lot of his time volunteering over the years and enjoyed making people smile. He was an avid lover of music and the arts, but especially loved his sports being a dedicated Yankees and Giants fan. He enjoyed golfing with his brothers and friends, and cycling with his Sutton crew, ALFW. Clarke was a kind and compassionate man who loved his friends and family more than anything. He was a loving and devoted father, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed. Elizabeth and Kara want to extend a special thanks to the UMASS Medical Center 6 ICU team of doctors and nurses for their compassionate care and kindness in his final days and making him smile as much as possible. In lieu of traditional remembrances please honor Clarke and kindly send donations to the Friends Of Sutton Elders at 19 Hough Road in Sutton, MA 01590.

All are invited to gather with Clarke’s family Thursday, October 6th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536.
