Obituary for Kleber A. Campbell III

PAXTON: Kleber Alexander Campbell III,94, of Paxton, MA died peacefully on September 23, 2022 after a short illness.

Kleber was born on June 3, 1928 in Worcester, MA and graduated from Worcester Academy and then Yale College in 1949. He was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant US Army Field Artillery through the ROTC program at Yale and was called to active duty 1 month later. He served with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, GA and in the Korean Conflict.

Kleber was a Certified Public Accountant in public practice for 50 years. He served as a trustee of Beaman Memorial Public Library, West Boylston, MA; on the Board of Directors and treasurer for the Colony Retirement Homes, Inc.; and on the board of Directors and treasurer for the Memorial Foundation for the Blind, Inc.

Kleber leaves behind his wife, Helen, of 72 years; his sister, Joan Phillips of Harpswell, ME; his four daughters and their families, Linda Campbell of Sudbury, VT (Stephen Hibbs, Will, Daniel); Patsy Cerulli of Whitehouse Station, NJ (Ted, Adam (Kristina), Andrew (Trish), Nicholas (Amanda Dittmar)); Susan Campbell of Montague, MA (Todd Fuller, Mollie); Lisa Bourgeault of Gansevoort, NY
(Dominique, Melanie Dada (Ola)), as well as six great grandchildren (Ryan, Emily, Bella, Leah, Amy, and Teddy) and his friendly neighbors with whom he shared moments of conversation on his many daily walks.

Kleber received his grandfather’s stamp collection at age 10 and over the years meticulously expanded and catalogued the collection. Over the years he unraveled the genealogy of our families with great gusto, but was disappointed to never be able to settle the “Argyle”question. He also enjoyed his daily sudoku.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday , October 9th, 2022 at 1:00pm at the First Unitarian Church, 90 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Abby’s House at 52 High St., Worcester, MA 01609 or to the First Unitarian Church for their monthly Faith In Action donations.
