Obituary for George B. Harrington

GRAFTON: George B. Harrington, 73, passed away at home September 8, 2022 following an illness. His wife of 47 years, Dora M. (LeBlanc) Harrington predeceased him in 2019. George is survived by three daughters, Barbara E. Gannon, Linda M. Rioux and her husband William Rioux, Melissa A. Mahlert and her husband Donald R. Mahlert and his son Joseph E. Harrington and his longtime partner Audra Becker. His grandchildren: Rachel and Timothy Rioux, Raymond and Christopher Gannon, Joshua and Johnathan Harrington and Jocelyn Hackathon. He is also survived by his brother Edson Harrington and was predeceased by his brother Joseph Harrington.
George was born June 20, 1949 in Milford, MA, son of the late Elise (Pouppeville) and Edson Harrington. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a resident of Grafton all of his life. By trade George was a Civil Engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for approximately 35 years.
George was a loving husband and father. He will always be remembered for yearly family vacations in Maine, fishing and hunting, his friendship and his deep generosity. George made a profound impact on the lives of all who knew him. He will sorely be missed.
All are welcome to a graveside prayer service Friday September 16, 2022 at 3:30pm at Fairview Cemetery 380 Providence Road South Grafton, MA 01560. There are no calling hours. However, a Celebration of Life service will be held at the American Legion Post 92, 69 Worcester Street, Grafton, MA immediately following.
