GRAFTON: Garfield R. Atchue, 95, passed away August 11, 2022 following a brief illness. His wife Dorothy (Esten) Atchue predeceased him in 2004. Garfield leaves his son Bruce Atchue his grandchildren Sabrina, Michelle and Robert Bosma and Adam and Andy Atchue, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert Atchue.
Garfield was born November 10, 1926 in Grafton, MA and was a life-long resident in town. He earned a certificate from Wentworth Institute of Technology following graduation from Grafton High School and then worked for many years as a Technical Draftsman at Wyman Gordon and then Danko, Inc.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. Close to home he was dedicated to the Baptist Church of Grafton throughout his life, was an organist, and loved to tend to his garden at home and always had a keen eye for birds.
All are welcome to gather with Garfield’s family and friends Monday August 22, 2022 from 4pm to 6pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. A Funeral service for Garfield will be held Tuesday August 23rd at 11:00am at The Baptist Church of Grafton 1 South St. Grafton, MA 01519. All attending the funeral service are politely requested to go directly to the church. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton. In lieu of flowers please honor Garfield with donations to the Baptist Church of Grafton 1 South St. Grafton, MA 01519.
