Obituary for Laurie M. Moran

MILLBURY: Laurie M. Moran, 72, passed away March 30, 2022 at UMass University Campus in Worcester following an illness. She is survived by her father Arthur Moran, her siblings Wendy Moran and Kelly Moran (Carol Morello VMD), and Karen Kazarian and Nancy Lucier who were a loving presence in Laurie’s life for many years. She was loved and cherished by nephews Evan Moran (Laura Savino) and Brian Moran (Stacy Moran), and her grand-nephews Tommy, Joey, Arthur and Miles. She was predeceased by her mother Pauline L. Moran, her uncle Aime Boucher, and her brother-in-law Thomas J. Bernard. She was surrounded in life by loving family and friends for whom she was most grateful.

Laurie was born May 1, 1949 in Worcester. She attended Holy Name High School where she was a member of the national honors society and president of the debate club. She graduated from Anna Maria College with a B.A. in English and she attended Southern Illinois University for graduate studies in literature. Laurie retired after working as a data administrator and working in the insurance industry.

Those closest to Laurie will remember a Renaissance spirit with a phenomenal memory, sharp wit, quick sense of humor, and a generous and caring heart. Laurie was a prolific reader, thinker, and writer. In her younger years she was an able swimmer, dancer, and sailor. She had a deep and loving commitment to family and friends and a readiness to smile and laugh.

Laurie loved everyone and cherished children because of their simple joy and perspective. As she did with others in life, she tirelessly fostered their inquisitive spirit and education with thoughtful gifts.

The family would like to thank the staff of the UMass 7th floor ICU for their support and care.

All are welcome to gather with Laurie’s family and friends Sunday April 3rd from 2pm to 4pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a service of remembrance at 4pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
