Obituary for Sean M. Gormley

UPTON: Sean M. Gormley, 40, passed away December 28, 2021 leaving his family with the hope that he has finally found the peace that was elusive to him for far too long. Those who knew him well will remember his soul, his kindness and the qualities that brought him many lasting friendships through his life. Born on February 19, 1981 in Worcester, Sean was the son of the late Mary Ann (Popec) and the late James Gormley, Jr. He leaves his older sister Colleen Gormley and her husband Andrew McIntyre, and his twin sister Shannon (Gormley) Clark and her husband Todd and their children, Ayden, Evalyn and Emersynn. He worked most recently at Amazon but typically you would see him landscaping or find him helping friends around town.
Sean‘s childhood was spent on many adventures with his twin sister, Shannon and under the watchful eye of their older sister, Colleen. Taking bike rides, playing outside, building the “secret fort” and hours on the 'Big Rock' just beyond the backyard in the woods. Sean's height and agility naturally lead to a love of basketball as well as an idolization of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The friendships fostered on the basketball court would last a lifetime as Sean and his friends continued to bond on many fishing trips and on the golf course, especially at the Annual Red Farm Golf Tournament. Sean took to his role as Uncle with ease and truly loved the precious time spent with his nephew and nieces, building legos, playing video games, swimming and coloring. An avid pet lover, Sean was always so gentle and caring with the cats & dogs the family was lucky to have over the years.
Even if Sean was away from his family for an extended time, he and Shannon were always close with a connection only twins can appreciate. Their time together was spent reminiscing about shared memories, often shared in few words, with tear induced belly laughter. Sean's other family and friends will no doubt remember the good times and copious amounts of laughter with him.
Sean’s family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please honor Sean with a memorial donation to The Herren Project, an organization dedicated to supporting those struggling with addiction and their families at https://herrenproject.org/donate.
