GRAFTON: Patrick Maunsell, 91, a gentleman, passed away peacefully at home May 26, 2021. His wife Bridget (Quinlan) passed away in 2018. Patrick is survived by his children Elizabeth FitzGerald and her husband Arthur, Kieran “Bob” Maunsell and his wife Natasha, Julie Vona and her husband David, Gerald Maunsell and Patrick Maunsell, his grandchildren Bridget and Kiera Maunsell, Padraig and Katherine Vona, Bridget and Maribeth FitzGerald and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Mary, and his seven siblings all predeceased him.

Patrick was born in the civil parish of Ballymacelligott, County Kerry, Ireland July 10, 1929, son of the late Julia (Heffernan) and Michael Maunsell. He spent his early years tending to the family farm, before meeting and marrying his wife Bridget on April 21, 1960 in Tralee, Ireland. They moved to the US shortly thereafter to begin a new life and family. He was employed as a steam fireman at the former Grafton State Hospital and for many years Patrick owned and managed rental properties throughout Worcester County. A loving and attentive family man, Patrick recognized and appreciated life’s simple moments for their larger and deeper importance; whether it was the morning tea with his wife, Bridie, or doling out his much sought after advice to his children. Throughout the years, Patrick regularly traveled back to the old country to see his siblings and their children. Funeral services and burial for Patrick will be private at the convenience of his family.
