Condolences & Tributes

I knew Ed to be a man of patience and kindness with two wonderful loving daughters -- Cindy Sowa Forgit and Michelle Sowa Koren.

A mechanical engineer by profession, Ed loved designing/developing/retrofitting products besides spending time with Cindy and Michelle during their school and pre-marriage years. In addition, he helped repair or restore friends' cars as well as hunt, fish, and trap-shoot at Southboro Rod and Gun Club.

May eternal peace be with you, Ed Sowa. Love, Jill Hitchcock

It's a very sad day for our family, my mom and my sister, Michelle. My Dad passed away this morning ... after a few months of battling Adult On Set Leukemia. Dad, I can't thank you enough for begin my Dad, being that great teacher and having a calm, quiet and funny soul. You were my best friend growing up. You taught me how to bait and catch a fish, then how to clean it afterwards. You taught me my love for cars ... from building those boxed car kits we got at Spag's, or buying matchbox cars from Bradlees. I remember waiting for you to look up car parts in those 8" books so you could order what you needed as you always were working on a car. I miss going to Westboro Speedway and watching the spectator races. When I wanted to be a race car driver when I grew up .. you never laughed at my dream, when every other little girl wanted to be a nurse or a teacher. I miss our weekly trips to Gram's house ... helping her clean up something in the yard, from leaves to chopping and stacking wood or how to shoot beer cans off the tree branches in the woods. You taught me how to hold a gun, how to turn on a lawnmower, how to drive a stick shift and how to care and keep these things clean and safe. You taught me how to change the oil in a car, or change a tire. You taught me about perc tests and how to read your mechanical drawings from your work. You taught me how to drive our boat ... all this before I was 12 years old. I know I was the son you never had and although I wore dresses to Church every Sunday ... I couldn't wait to get home to make a mud pie or climb a tree. I will truly miss you, your wisdom, your grin, those dimples and that giggle. I went for ice cream today, I got pistachio, your favorite.
