Obituary for Leonard J. Berube

GRAFTON: Leonard J. Berube, 90, passed away peacefully July 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at
home following an illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine (Folster) Berube, his children
Celeste Allain and her husband, Richard of Grafton, Carl Berube of Hunting Island, SC, John Berube and
Christine Graham of Skowhegan, ME and Susan Schroeder and her husband, Carl of Millbury, his
grandchildren Matthew, Tiffany, Katherine, Sarah, Noah, Orrin, Anthony, Nicole and Jarrett, his
great-grandchildren Sadie, Henry and Leo and his brother, Paul Berube. He was predeceased by his
brothers Gerald and Raymond.
Leonard was born July 11, 1929, in Fall River, MA, son of the late Beatrice (Fortier) and Joseph Berube.
He served proudly in the US Army during the Korean War as a Corporal and remained loyal to his
brothers in the armed forces for the rest of his life. He was a dedicated member and officer of the
Delisle Goulet Post 92 American Legion and was honored last year for 49 years of continuous service. He
worked for many years in the municipal electrical supply business as a traffic/production Manager,
retiring after many years from REMVEC.
Away from work he was happiest with family, following the Red Sox and spending time with his friends
at the American Legion. While living in Fall River, he was a member of the Southend Athletic Club and
the Knights of Columbus. He was a dedicated member of St. Philip Church in Grafton, volunteering in
many ministries there. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the town of Grafton for many
years. He loved camping with his family, especially at Maple Park, and being at the ocean.
Words alone will never truly express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Laura’s Guardian Angels,
especially Laura and Linda, who helped us take care of dad with so much compassion the last month of
his life.
Funeral services and burial for Leonard will be private at his family’s request. Please honor him with a
memorial donation to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605, or a charity of your choice. A
Book of Memories to share a favorite story, photo, or message with his family is available online at:
