Obituary for Curtis B. Robie

Curtis B.  Robie
Grafton – Curtis B. Robie, 91, of 11 Leland Street passed away August 26, 2019 after a short illness.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Roberta M. Robie who passed in 2011 after 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Curt D. Robie of Middlefield, MA and his wife Patricia and son Stephen B. Robie of Northborough and his wife Deborah: his four grandchildren, James, Christopher, Jessica, Ian, and his great grandchildren, Kianna Lyons, Brooke Robie, Mia Reid, Grayson Robie and several step grandchildren and great step grandchildren.
He was born March 21, 1928 in Worcester, the son of the late Burton A. and Leoline A. Robie and was a longtime Grafton resident. Curtis graduated from Grafton High School in 1946. While at Grafton High, he served as class president for the freshmen and sophomore years, was a member of the school orchestra, drama club, debate club, athletic council, and the varsity baseball team. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy serving from 1946 to 1948. For most of his naval service, he was stationed at the Orote Naval Air Station on Guam. While on Guam, he served as an aviation metalsmith and also served as the air station bugler. After military service he entered the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. After graduation he worked at the Bennington, VT. YMCA for three and a half years before accepting a position as an Interviewer in the Personnel Office of the Norton Abrasive Company in Worcester. He retired as the Employment Manager from Norton Co. in 1985.
Curtis was a member of many Grafton softball teams, the Grafton Republican Party, and a long-standing member of the Delisle Goulet American Legion Post 92 in Grafton. He also served as a farm team coach as part of the Grafton Little League organization.
Curtis will be missed by all of his family members who will remember him as a great dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Funeral Arrangements
Funeral services and internment will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to the Delisle Goulet American Legion Post 92 in Grafton.
