Obituary for Joseph P. Gillespie

AUBURN: Joseph P. "Joe" GIllespie, 57, passed away on July 27th, 2019 in a tragic drowning accident at Conimicut Point, R.I. Joe leaves his wife Diane, his daughter Emily, his mother Patricia Naple and Stepfather Louis Naple, Jr., his sisters, Patricia Racine, Laura Ames, and Maureen Leighton, step sisters Michelle Naple, Marci Bartkiewicz, and a step brother Michael Naple. He also leaves his uncle James Burke and his wife Judith, Aunt Jeanne Burke, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Joe was born on December 12, 1961 in Worcester. He grew up there and graduated from Doherty High School. For more than 20 years, Joe worked at Rand Whitney Co., and for the last 10, as a Conductor for the Grafton Upton Railroad. Joe will be remembered for his infectious smile, his fearless attitude, and his love for life. He loved his family, especially his beautiful daughter. He enjoyed campfires, fishing, and was a faithful follower of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. All are welcome to gather with Joe's family and friends Sunday, August 4th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney's Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 5th, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Loreto Church 33 Massasoit Rd. Worcester, and he will then be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made c/o Patricia Naple towards a Scholarship Fund for Joe's daughter Emily.
