Obituary for Robert W. Gormley

THAILAND/BOSTON: Robert W. Gormley, 68, of Thailand, passed away after a brief illness while visiting the United States on May 25, 2019. He leaves his wife Nok Alisa Mumkhao, his brother Ray Gormley and his wife Kathy of VA and Ed Gormley of Whitman. He was predeceased by sister Karen (Gormley) Lynskey (2010), brother Kevin Gormley (2010) and brother James Gormley Jr (2015).

Bob lived a variety of places and had a colorful variety of jobs. He hung his hat in Mass, Texas, Florida, Switzerland and Thailand. He tried his hand at acting and was an extra on popular shows like Knot’s Landing and Dynasty. He spent a significant part of his work life at the United Nations in Geneva, Switizerland. Starting as a night shift security guard in 1992, he eventually joined the IT department at the United Nations where he worked until 2013. His colleagues at the union remember him for his helpful, friendly nature and good sense of humor.

Family members will always remember him for his stubbornness but also his comic relief that was a steadfast remedy at easing traditional family tension.

All are welcome to gather with Bob's family and friends Saturday June 8th from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a memorial service at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
