Obituary for Lillian M. Dziembowski

Lillian M. Dziembowski
GRAFTON: Lillian M. (Boutiette) Dziembowski, 100, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019 at The Overlook Masonic Home in Charlton. She was predeceased by her husband Linus Dziembowski. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Geneva and her husband James, her grandsons Matthew Farineau and his wife Pamela, and Jim Farineau, his significant other Jessica and Jessica’s daughter Jillie. Her brother Donald Boutiette and sister Margaret Hagan also predeceased her. Lillian was born in Millbury on Christmas Eve in 1918, daughter of the late Ida (Jacques) and Peter Boutiette. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1936. During World War II she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Lillian began working at the Farnumsville Post Office in 1939, and in 1960 when the South Grafton Post Office was established she became the Assistant Postmaster. Following the retirement of Postmaster Arthur Boutiette in 1964 she was commissioned Postmaster by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Lillian retired from the postal service in 1974 after 35 years of service. Following retirement she became the Thursday Secretary at St. James Rectory and also volunteered at the La Salette Seminary in Worcester. She was a member of St. James Parish and the St. James Women’s Guild, AARP, the National Association of Postmasters of the U.S. and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Her later years were spent crocheting and knitting prayer shawls for the knitting ministry at St. James. The joy of her life was her family and her church. Please honor Lillian in lieu of traditional remembrances with a donation to the mission work of Fr. John Henault 29 Blackstone St. Sutton, MA 01590. All are welcome to gather with Lillian’s family and friends Tuesday January 8th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday January 9th at 10:30am at St. James Church 89 Main St. S. Grafton, MA 01560. She will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
