Ann R.  Houde
SOUTH GRAFTON: Ann R. (Knapik) Houde, 95, of the Farnumsville section of South Grafton, passed away on November 26, 2018 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge after being stricken ill. She was the daughter of the late Jan and Josephine (Grzybowski) Knapik. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Arthur, who passed away in 1991 and by her son Gary of Saratoga Springs, NY in 1999. She is survived by her sons: John (Jack), Sr. and his companion Karen Nelson, James and his wife Gail, all of South Grafton, and her daughter-in-law Pamela of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by 9 cherished grandchildren: Laurie Korajczyk and her husband Jeff of Billerica, Christopher Houde and his wife Sarah of Ballston Spa, NY, Jennifer L’Esperance and her husband Leo of Oxford, Trisha Houde of Millbury, John Houde, Jr. of Upton, Stephanie Olds and her husband James of Oxford, April Kelton and her husband Russell of Deland, FL, Jason Houde of North Grafton,and MSgt Daniel Houde, USAF, stationed at NATO LANDCOM, Izmir, Turkey and his wife Micahah of Illinois. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren: Ruth Houde, Anna and Isaac L’Esperance, Charlotte Houde, Xavier and Josephine Olds, Avery Kelton, Alexander, Gabriel, and Charles Houde, Mariano and Isabelle Damian, and several close nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sisters: Mary Misiazak, Virginia Pawelczyk, and Stacia Pryan, and three brothers: Joseph, Zigmont and Felix.

Ann was born December 7, 1922 in Farnumsville where she lived most of her life. Over the years, she was employed at Kartiganer Hat Factory in Upton, J.J. O’Donnell Woolens, Inc. in Farnumsville, Reed and Prince Mfg. of Worcester, and Wyman-Gordon Co. of North Grafton. She was a parishioner of St. James Church where she was a past regent of The Daughters of Isabella and she baked for the Bereavement Committee and for the Mustard Seed.

Ann was known as Gramma Houde to many. She enjoyed family get-togethers, going out to eat, and in her leisure time, she loved knitting dishcloths and afghans to give away to family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grand-children.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beaumont for their kind and compassionate care. All are invited to calling hours on Friday, November 30, from 4-7pm at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., No. Grafton. A celebration of her funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 1 at 11am in St. James Church, 89 Main St. (Rt. 122A), South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
