Condolence: I very much enjoyed working with Debra at 3Com/Chipcom. Her energy was incredible and positive and left you feeling good about everything. It's so great that she left a mark on the world with her work at Defense-wise also. I hope the family is strengthened by this and is able to find a positive outcome.

Condolence From: Nayak family
Condolence: Our daughter, Meghana started karate lessons at Sensei Deb’s studio in early 2011. Sensei’s passion and commitment towards her craft was visible from day one. She took every child unde her wings and brought out the best in them. We saw our daughter transform from a delicate girl to one who could split wood with her arm. She was more confident and slowly but surely cane out of her shell. Sensei Deb was always encouraging her to do better. She and I talked a lot before and after classes. We were sad to leave her studio when we moved out of state. She will be missed by all her students. May she Rest In Peace. May god give her family the strength to cope through this difficult time. Nayak family ( Meghana’s parents)

Condolence From: Liz, Bruce, Colin, Catherine and Madeline Spinney
Condolence: Sensei Deb will be in our hearts forever. It is so hard to believe that she is gone, and it has left a huge hole in our lives, especially in Colin's. Colin began as a student of Sensei Deb's in 2012 when he was just four. Just a few weeks later, he learned that he had a brain tumor, and the it was cancerous. The incredibly kind and thoughtful person that she is, Deb sent Colin her angel bear to give him strength, and rallied her students to send him a get well poster to show their support. The love that Sensei showed toward Colin no doubt helped him get through his treatment. Colin returned to class some months later, but Sensei did allow Colin to let his cancer hold him back, and he earned his yellow belt in just a few weeks. Even when she got sick again, Sensei Deb kept teaching as much as she could. She just wanted to be there for those students she loves so much. She was one of the kindest people we've ever known, and we will miss her terribly, but we will also remind ourselves every day to live life like she did--to make each day count, to show respect at all times, to stay strong in mind and body, and to be good to each other.

Condolence: We were fortunate to have known Deb through skiing, kayaking and wine tasting parties. Also those fabulous Halloween parties where we met people from all the other areas of her life. Everyone loved Deb. She was a shining light, always smiling and making us feel like we were important to her. She was genuine and gracious. Deb, we pray the angels will hold your hand and guide you in heaven.

Condolence: The first time I met Deb at her mother's house, she strode right over to me and gave me a big hug. And, of course, Deb's famous warm and embracing smile. How much I admired her courage and self-effacing way. The Universe has lost a beautiful spirit.

Condolence: How am I so lucky to have had a friend like Deb? And how is it fair that she's left us so soon? Quick story, one of many: Deb was a member of my ski group, and on one of our weekend trips to Sunday River, she let me give her her first snowboarding lesson. This was before I had any formal training in the art. Things were going well enough, but then she caught her heelside edge and took a horrible shot to her tailbone. "Oh my God, she's gonna hate me for this," I thought. But thanks to her martial arts training, she shook it off and later she'd be telling people what a great instructor I was. And I did go on to become a ski and snowboard instructor for a time, in no small part because of her encouragement. Turns out she was teaching me all along. The quote from Booker T. Washington applies so we'll to how she lived. A worthy example indeed to follow going forward. To all her family and uncountable legions of friends, I offer my most sincere and deepest condolences. Aloha and much Mahalo, Deb! You will not be forgotten. Rick

Condolence: Sensei Deb was like a second mother to me, and she one of the most important people in my life. In the ten years I spent learning from her, she guided and watched over my growth from middle school to adulthood, and her teachings were crucial to my development as a martial artist and as a person. I would not be who I am today if I hadn't been lucky enough to learn from her. She was a beautiful spirit-- strong, vivacious, inspirational-- who saw potential in me and worked hard to help me reach beyond what I thought I was capable of. The impact she had on my life, and on the countless lives of others she taught, is immeasurable. Every day, whether I am teaching karate or not, I am motivated by her dedication, passion, and resilience in the face of obstacles. Even though there is the comfort that Deb will live on forever in our minds and hearts, there are no words to express saddened I am by her passing. The world had lost one of its brightest souls, but the sky has gained a new brightest star. My love and thoughts go out to Deb's family, friends, colleagues, and students in this difficult time.

Condolence: For the past 6 years, Sensei Deb, you provided a safe and nurturing environment for our Eldest to develop himself and taught him the tools to start to continue with his personal growth. We were fortunate that you also welcomed our youngest son to the fold. You became a close part of our family in the process, and a dear and cherished cornerstone in our lives and memories, forever safe in our hearts. We hope you know how much you touched each and every soul who became fortunate to have learned from you. In true awe of your fighting spirit, as well as the legacy of countless individuals and families you have enriched. We miss you Sensei. We will never forget you.

Condolence: Deb what can I say, I'm lost for words. You have touched so many lives, inspired so many students, mold them to be the best they can be. I am truly blessed to have you in my life, it is an honor to be your oldest student student. You have pushed me , mold me, and inspired me to who I am today. When I thought I couldn't do any more you pushed me to further myself. You are my friend, my karate sister, and my mentor. I only hope to be half of a martial artist as you. I just want to thank you. I am heart broken, and I will truly miss you. You will always be a part of me. I am glad you are finally at peace. We will try to keep your dream going, to inspire students like you did, even though your shoes are hard to fill. We the scholar come forth into battle. ........... we will never forget you, rest now my angel. Love always sensei anne
