Obituary for Richard A. Dumont

GRAFTON: Richard A. Dumont, 79, passed away April 6, 2018 at Westborough Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness. His wife Ruth (Soulor) passed away in 2008. Richard is survived by his daughters Beth Santana and her fiancé Peter Hurstak Jr and Melissa DeSalvo, his grandchildren Cierra Bailey, Tianna, Camden and Cole DeSalvo and his great-grandchildren Avery and Jaxson, his brother Joseph Dumont and his wife Melissa and sister Diane Corey along with many nieces and nephews. His brothers Philip and Raymond Dumont predeceased him. Richard was born March 24, 1939 in Worcester son of the late Bella (Couture) and Arthur Dumont. He grew up in the Vernon Hill neighborhood in the city and was nostalgic about his roots throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and following his military service worked for many years at NE Diamond Co as a brazier. Away from work he was drawn to the beaches of Cape Cod under the summer sun with his wife Ruth and closer to home was happiest when outdoors. If you knew Richard you’ll remember his sharp wit, charm and sense of humor that never faded. In memory of his love of cats please consider a memorial donation in his name to BrokenTailRescue at www.BrokenTailRescue.org and their mission to provide adoption services for cats. All are welcome to gather with Richard’s family and friends Wednesday April 11th from 9:30am-11:00am at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a prayer service at 11am in the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.
