Obituary for Carmela Pijaca (Caputo)

Carmela Pijaca (Caputo)
WORCESTER: Carmela (Caputo) Pijaca, 90, passed away November 14, 2017 at St. Camillus Healthcare Center in Whitinsville. She is survived by her son John Pijaca, her granddaughters Rose, Carmela and Kristina Pijaca, and her siblings Giuseppe, Rosa, Franca, Pietrina, Tomasso and Pietro along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Rosaria, Lucia and Benito. Carmela was born November 5, 1927 in Italy daughter of the late Bettina and Antonio Caputo. She lived with her son and grandchildren in New York before moving to Massachusetts in 1999 to remain with her son and grandchildren. Always a beloved “Nonna”, Carmela was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her Italian heritage was a source of pride throughout her life, and in her home there was always a place at her kitchen table and a plate of home cooked food for anyone to enjoy before they left. She shared the gift of laughter with her family and friends throughout her life and was happiest with life’s simple pleasures. All are welcome to gather with Carmela’s family and friends Friday November 17th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton MA 01536. Her family will gather again for calling hours on Sunday November 19th from 3pm to 8pm at Farenga Funeral Home 38-08 Ditmars Blvd. Astoria, NY 11105. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Carmela Monday November 20th at 9:45am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 21-47 29th Street Astoria, NY 11105. She will then be laid to rest at The New St. Peter’s Mausoleum in East Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers please honor Carmela with a memorial donation to St. Camillus Healthcare Center c/o Activities Fund 447 Hill St. Whitinsville, MA 01588.
