Obituary for
John E. LaPoint
GRAFTON: John E. LaPoint, 66, passed away Monday November 13, 2017 at his home. Born and raised in North Grafton he was the youngest child of Bernard and Minnie (Doane) LaPoint. He leaves his brothers Bernard of North Grafton and William of Barnstable, MA and his sister Linda of Brookings, Oregon. His sister Barbara passed away last December. John graduated from St. John's High School in Shrewsbury and Assumption College in Worcester. He also earned his Master's degree from Boston University. He worked many years as a consultant on the design and construction of golf courses around the country. John's involvement in the town of Grafton was with the Democratic Committee and he was the current Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and he was also the Public Relations Director for Grafton Community Television. A devout communicant at St. Mary's Church, he was proudest of his ministry as assistant at funeral Masses at both St. Mary's and St. Philip's parishes. John's funeral Mass will be held Friday November 17th at 10:00am at St. Mary's Church 17 Waterville St. North Grafton, MA 01536. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton. There are no calling hours. All attending the funeral Mass are requested to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers please honor John with memorial donations to St. Mary's Church Capital Fund 17 Waterville St. N. Grafton, MA 01536.
