Obituary for James J. Mason

SUTTON: James J.”Jim” Mason, 56, passed away March 28, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Mason and her fiancé’ Jose Porter, his father Ronald Mason and his wife Angela and mother Josephine Mason, his brothers Peter Mason and his wife Diane and John Mason and his wife Sandy, his sister Deborah Stephens and her husband Timothy, his niece Michelle Stephens and nephew David Stephens, and his former wife Lisa Mason. Jim was born April 22, 1960 in Ware and his roots were in Grafton where he graduated from high school before earning his Associate’s degree from Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island. Jim was an accomplished chef for many years, owning and cooking at The Blue Moon Café in Northbridge and also cooking at El Morroco in Worcester, KP’s in Sutton and The Steakloft in Northborough. Away from work he found his way to the lanes where he played in several bowling leagues and under the summer sun he and his friends would head to the lakes region in New York to go fishing. Closer to home he was a devoted son, father and brother whose legacy will be a kind, giving soul who was always there for those he cared about as he shared his time and energy to put others first. Please honor Jim in lieu of flowers with a memorial donation to ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic – Massachusetts General Hospital c/o MGH ALS Fund Development Office Suite 540 125 Nashua St. Boston, MA 02114. All are welcome to gather with Jim’s family Friday April 7th from 10am-12pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a prayer service at 12pm in the funeral home.
