Obituary for Mark A. Steinmetz

GRAFTON: Mark A. Steinmetz, 56, passed away suddenly after being stricken ill February 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Debra “Deb” (Forsberg) Steinmetz, his daughter Marita Steinmetz and son David Steinmetz, his brother Michael Steinmetz and his wife Eileen and sister Marita Cheney and her husband Eric, his mother Sandra Stubbs and her husband Bob,his 3 brother-in-laws Bruce Forsberg and his wife Gail, David Forsberg and his wife Terry and Peter Forsberg and Abby Smith, and several nieces and nephews. His father Anthony Steinmetz predeceased him. Mark was born January 17, 1961 in Boston. Earlier in life he lived in Sutton but he called Grafton home for many years. Mark worked at National Grid for more than 27 years as a Lineman and was active with BUW Local 330 serving as its Vice President and Treasurer. While he was always hard working Mark’s career was not what defined him. He’ll be remembered most for the selfless way he lived his life, serving as a mentor to young people looking for work that he helped find opportunities at National Grid and always going out of his way to help anybody in need. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who always looked forward to hunting trips in Maine and was the President of the Davy Crockett Hunting Club. Please honor Mark with a memorial donation to St. Vincent Cancer and Wellness Center 1 Eaton Place Worcester, MA 01608. All are welcome to gather with Mark’s family and friends Thursday February 16th from 4pm to 8pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. Mark’s funeral service will be Friday February 17th at 10:00am at the Congregational Church of Grafton 30 Grafton Common Grafton, MA 01519. All attending the funeral service are politely requested to go directly to the church. He will then be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Grafton.
