Obituary for MAUREEN M. EDDY (HAW)

BRIDGEWATER - Maureen (Haw) Eddy, 71, passed away on October 11, 2013 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ronald, her parents Herbert and Jacoba (Greyling) Haw, her sister Irene, brothers William and Errol. Maureen leaves her son Ralph and her daughter in law Shayna, her beloved grandsons, Ryan and Graeme along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Maureen was born September 10, 1942 in South Africa. After emigrating to The U.S. in 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Eddy spent two years in Southfield MI before relocating to Bridgewater MA in 1985. Upon retirement Ronald and Maureen moved to Rockland ME. After Ronald's passing, Maureen moved back to MA to be closer to her family, especially her grandchildren who she never missed an opportunity to talk about. Maureen cherished the many close relationships she had with her family and friends. Wherever she went, Maureen made new connections. Regardless of distance or time zone, Maureen always kept in touch with everyone she encountered along her life's journey. She was a great correspondent and enjoyed keeping up to date with everyone's lives while sharing hers with them. Maureen lived her life always thinking of others, putting their needs before hers. Even as she fought cancer for the last several months, she never complained and instead would focus on her caregivers, her family and friends. Maureen took great joy in entertaining family and friends and was especially fond of Christmas. Always a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Maureen will be greatly missed and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests you honor her with contributions to The Salvation Army, or an animal shelter of the donor's choice. In keeping with Maureen's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor and remember her. The Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton is caring for Maureen and assisting her family.
