GRAFTON: Raymond F. Balser, 93, passed away October 21, 2018 at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, E. Carol (Beahn) Balser, his children Raymond F. Balser, Jr. and his wife Melanie, Cynthia M. Jordan and her husband Skip, Patricia A. Jackman and her husband Ken and Diane E. Fleming and her husband Butch, his grandchildren Raymond and Andrea Balser, Lisa Hanley, Skip and Chris Jordan, Kenny and Nick Jackman, and Joshuah and Kyle Fleming. He also leaves his great-granddaughter Alanna Jessica Jackman and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Jessica Jackman, his brothers Ernest and Edward Balser and sisters Mary Ruseckas and Gertrude (Balser). Ray was born March 4, 1925 in Worcester, son of the late Pauline (Lambutis) and John P. Balser. He grew up in the Grafton Hill neighborhood in Worcester, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at Barrett Centrifugals prior to his retirement. Ray and his wife Carol traveled extensively, spending summers in York Beach, Maine, taking trips across Europe and to Aruba and finding the warmth of Cape Coral, Florida during the winters. Ray was easy to find enjoying a round of golf, often at Strawberry Hills CC, Pine Ridge Golf Club or The Raceway Country Club where he was a former member. He also was a member of the Grafton Hill Golf League, Grafton Hill American Legion Post 323, and Greendale Men’s Clubs and the Lithuanian War Veterans Club. He prized time with his wife Carol and family above all else. Please honor Ray with a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to The Jessica Jackman Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Homefield Credit Union 86 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536.
