Hopkinton NH: Alvin S. Hamilton, 96 passed away at home on July 22, 2018. Al is survived by his loving wife of 76 years Gean (Emino) Hamilton and 3 sons; Bob Hamilton and his wife Lyn of Plaistow NH, Richard Hamilton and his wife Catherine of Fort Myers FL and John Hamilton and his fiancé Johanna of Hopkinton NH. Six grandchildren; Sherry and her husband John Woods of Belmont NH, Amy and her husband David Rogers of E. Lyme CT, Tabatha and her husband Selim of Concord NH, Nicole Hamilton of Conyers GA, Scott Hamilton and his wife Amy of Warren NH and Alyssa Myers of Manchester NH. Great-Grandchildren; Alyssa, Riley, Tanner, Lauren, Kyle, Alexandria, Yasemin & Kaitlyn.
Al was predeceased by his son Thomas Hamilton.
He was born on Feb 27, 1922 in Whitinsville MA the son of Aubrey and Bertha May (Mc Gray) Hamilton.
Al served in the Navy during WWII serving out most of that time in Pearl Harbor on PT boats. After coming home from the war Al returned to Whitens Machine Works where he started as an apprentice and worked his way up to a tooling engineer. Al’s intelligence, work ethic and personality made him a standout and led to his career as an Industrial Supply Distributor.
Moving to NH Al founded Abrasives and Tools of NH which was his pride and joy, where he remained active as Chairman until his death. He was an active member of many advisory boards and served as President of New England Industrial Distribution Association for many years.
Al was a member of the Masons for over 50 years. He was also an active member of the Baptist Church of Grafton where he served as a Deacon for many years.
All are welcome to gather with Al’s family and friends Friday July 27th from 10am-11:30am at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a funeral service at 12pm at The Baptist Church of Grafton 1 South St. Grafton, MA 01519. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.
