Obituary for James P. Martin

GRAFTON: James Patrick. Martin, 50, died in his home where he was deeply loved on June 8th, 2018. James will be remembered by those who love him for his unrelenting and benevolent spirit, and hard work. He will also be remembered for his valiant, and relentless struggle against addiction. He was preceded by his son, Joseph P. Martin, 3rd, on May 24th, 2015. He leaves his son, James P. Martin, Jr., his wife Ashley, and, grandchildren Makayla and Mackenzie; his mother, Sandra Martin, and father, Joseph P. Martin, Jr.; his siblings Joseph P. Martin, III, and his wife, Tricia Martin; JoAnne Marie Castonguay and her husband, John Castonguay; Michael J. Martin and his wife Nancy Martin; and John T. Martin and his wife Alicia Ross; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
James was born in Worcester on August 30, 1967. While his childhood was spent in Auburn, he lived in Grafton, Worcester, and the Daytona Beach Area of Florida. Most recently James lived in Grafton with his Mom and Dad, his brother John, wife Alicia, and nephew, Jack.
James attended the Peterson School in Woburn for training in the trades. Over the years, he worked in HVAC installation and maintenance, bridge and foundation construction, landscaping, and general labor. James loved his two sons and grandchildren, family, the outdoors, reading, watching the history channel, fishing, working out, and teaching himself to play his guitar. He will be missed for his kindness, humor, and infectious smile.
Calling hours will be held Saturday June 16th from 9:30am-11:00am, followed immediately by a brief prayer service at 11:00 a.m., and burial at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton, MA. Services will be held at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. In lieu of flowers, please honor his memory with a donation to the Net of Compassion, 474 Grove St. Suite 910, Worcester, MA 01605.
