My son Colin became a student of Deb's in September 2012 when he was just four years old.  Just a few weeks later, Colin learned that he had a brain tumor, and later learned that it was cancerous.  Deb sent Colin an angel bear that she had been given years ago to give him strength, along with a beautiful poster signed by all of the students to let him know that they are thinking of him and wishing him well.  She was so supportive through his treatment, and always wanted to know how he was doing.  When he returned to class, she was so excited to have him back, and she inspired Colin to set a goal of getting his black belt by the time he was 12.  Colin is now 9, a green belt (with brown stripe), and has been cancer free for five years.  Over the years, Colin always looked up to Sensei Deb, and he will carry with him always the lessons she taught him and the high ideals she set for all of her students.  She will forever be an angel looking over him, and all of her students.
