Condolence: Dear Diane and Family,
We are deeply saddened over the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and friend. Steve embodied what it is to be a gentleman, a humanitarian, a comforter and a friend to all who knew him. Serving at St. Mary's with him was always a privilege and his ready smile and happy eyes were a nice greeting at 7:30 Sunday mornings! We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers and help to keep Steve's memory and dedication to our community ever present.
Fondly Remembered,
Donna & Paul Verdolino

Condolence: This loss will effect everyone for a long time, I'm sure many people know what a kind soul heaven has gained. Several occasions over the years most recently with the passing of my parents a few years apart I had to go see Steve to make arrangements. I can remember trying to figure out what am I going to do as you are telling yourself to put one foot in front of the other to walk into the Funeral Home. Every time I walked in Steve would be waiting at the top of the stairs and just seeing him and being in his company you knew you were going to get through this. That type of person rarely comes along in a lifetime and those of us who got to know him are far better for it. Steve and his Wife Diane are some of the nicest people I know and my heart goes out to her as well as the rest of the Roney and O'Toole families. The town of Grafton has lost a Rock and a true friend to many. Being around him you always felt like you were his friend and you could look to him for advice or to answer questions or just help in general as well as always adding in some laughs. The service he and his family have provided to this town is immeasurable, whether it was the Fire Department or the Funeral Home you couldn't ask for more friendly compassionate care. God Bless you Captain Roney, thank you for your service and for being you.
