Condolences & Tributes

My condolences to Peggy's family. I knew the Koomey's from my travels to Massachusetts and had the privilege of staying in their bed and breakfast. It was like a home away from home for me. I met the entire family, had long conversations with Peggy and enjoyed her fantastic breakfasts. They had a baby grand piano which further added to the home away from home feeling of staying there as I'm a pianist and played on their piano. I will always remember Peggy's warmth and generous spirit and how 'at home' and comfortable she made me feel. Sending love to all the Koomey family.

We can only echo what Carl has said. We also experienced the warm hospitality and generosity of John and Peg over the 5 years we lived in Grafton. They were among our closest friends and we miss them both. After moving back to the UK, contact became more limited, but we are very glad to have been able to visit Peg with our children in 2010 and do a lot of catching up. It's hard to believe that 7 years have passed since then and that Peg has gone, but we will never forget her. Our best wishes go to all surviving Koomeys. Love from Chris, Lynda, Elizabeth & James

Peg, along with her husband John, was for many travelers in years past the face of Tufts University outside of working hours. It was to Peg’s bed and breakfast at the Heritage House on North Street that we would migrate to be fed (incredible) and watered (tremendous coffee as well as gin and tonics), to discuss our day's experiences at the vet school, and to meet others also visiting the locale. As a couple, there could be no better hosts than Peg and John, and for those who stayed with them, the memory of a visit to Tufts was in no small way defined by one's time at the Heritage House.
And for a few particularly lucky people, like Mona and I, that first interaction with Peg, John and their wonderful Family, would grow into a life-long friendship. For me personally, Peg and John were for many years my surrogate parents in what was then a foreign land. Their generosity, their kindness, their advice helped form the person I am now.
And what of Peg herself? For me, Peg was the perfect voice of reason when John’s gentle irascibility shone through. Peg was the seer who helped me chart out my early career and my love. And Peg was the strength of character that I see so often reflected in her wonderful children, then young adults, who accepted me into their family unreservedly and with genuine warmth.
Thank you Peg for this and so much more.
Carl & Mona Kirker-Head.

Mrs. Koomey always graciously welcomed me into her home. I looked forward to her wonderful dinners, interesting conversations and colorful cast of characters casually coming in and out of the door at any time. My sympathy is offered to her children and grandchildren in this, their time of loss.
