Nancy was born September 29, 1936 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Howard and Marjorie (Handy) Pellatt and grew up in Saylesville,RI She met the love of her life Carl, at Hope High School in Providence. As high school sweet hearts, they became inseparable doing the typical teen things of the times. Like driving to the Milk Can for ice cream, looking for sock hops, taking in the latest movie at the drive-in and taking a ride in Carl’s latest automobile. They married and settled in Providence, RI for a few of years before moving to Portland, Maine. Then, in 1959, moved to Massachusetts and lived in several different cities and towns, but always thought of Melrose as their primary home as this is where they spent the years of parenting the four children they loved so very much. After a semi-retirement, Nancy and Carl relocated to Alton, NH, a familiar location as in their earlier years, the family spent many summers boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. After reaching the great-grandparenting stage of life, she and Carl enjoyed vacationing in the warm sun of Captiva Island off the west coast of Florida.
You would always find pets around when you visited, cats roamed the barn, and she loved her horses and was fond of their Collies, Star and Duke. Recently, she was able to spend some time with their cocker spaniel, Mr. Blue, who was her companion after Carl passed.
Nancy was an accomplished woman. After raising her children she returned to Fischer Jr. College to receive her Associate Degree in Business. She spent time in management positons at Digital. After Digital’s closing she went on to acquire her NH Real Estate Sales Agent License. She worked for Maxfield-Buchanan Real Estate in Alton, NH and was acknowledged as a top sales agent there. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Hats Society of NH, and was active in the Rotary Club of Alton.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all who gave their kindness, care and assistance to her. In lieu of flowers please honor Nancy with a memorial donation to VNA Care Network and Hospice 120 Thomas St. Worcester, MA 01608.
