Obituary for Cathy L. Rossetti (Champion)

Cathy L. Rossetti (Champion)
GRAFTON: Cathy L. (Champion) Rossetti, 68, passed away November 1, 2016 surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her fiancé Frederick Brumett and her children Christina Breed and husband Johnny, Cynthia Rossetti, Cassandra Bartolomucci and husband John, and Richard Rossetti, Jr. and wife Colleen. She was preceded in death by her father Bernard Champion and survived by her mother Theresa Champion. She also leaves behind siblings Linda Smith and husband Anthony, Beverly Palermo and husband Peter, and Raymond Champion and wife Gayle, step-daughter Tricia Smith and husband Matthew, granddaughter Kierian Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cathy was born on August 5, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest of four children. She moved frequently during her youth, as her father was in the Navy, and grew up between North Andover, MA, Rockville, CT, and King of Prussia, PA. She attended high school at Rockville High School and graduated from Upper Merino High School. She later moved to Grafton and received an undergraduate degree in Education from Anna Maria in Worcester, MA. She dedicated many years teaching special education at several of the Grafton Public Schools, prior to retiring in 2010.
Cathy was talented at sewing and smocking, and was always known for the beautiful clothes she would make for her children, family, and friends. She also loved to garden and continued to tend to her garden even during her illness. She was a great cook and was always making family favorites for loved ones. She enjoyed the beach and spent many summers with her parents and children down on Cape Cod. She loved animals especially dogs and birds. Cathy was a loving mother, supportive daughter, and loyal friend. Despite suffering with cancer, she always kept a positive attitude and had a beautiful smile on her face. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 6th from 2pm to 5pm at Roney Funeral Home at 152 Worcester Street in Grafton, MA. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, November 7th at 10am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 53 North Main Street in North Grafton, MA. All attending the funeral service are politely requested to go directly to church. Burial will follow at the Great Neck Woods Cemetery in Mashpee, MA.
