Obituary for James E. Niddrie

James E. Niddrie, 82, passed away June 16, 2016 at his daughter's home in Millbury following an illness. His wife Karen (Peterson) Niddrie passed away in May of 2015. James is survived by his daughters Dale Donahue and her husband Craig, Erica Gingerelli and Rhonda Niddrie Volpi and her husband John, his grandchildren Sasha Ryan, Sasset Gingerelli, Dana Gingerelli and Hunter Jones, his sister Grace Little and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Smith, Phyllis Lynn and Joyce Eckel. James was born March 12, 1934 in Worcester son of the late Donalda (Coderre) and Richard Niddrie. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and following his military service worked as a butcher at many area meat markets. Over the years he built many friendships including those at Fairway Beef in Worcester where he will be missed. Away from work you were likely to find James tending to his vegetable garden at home or heading out with a fishing rod in his hand. He remained close to his sisters throughout his life and will be remembered as a hard-working man who was happiest when surrounded by his family and life's simple pleasures. All are invited to gather with James's family and friends Monday June 20th from 5pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. A prayer service will be held for James Tuesday June 21st at 11:00am at the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest at Saint Phillip Cemetery in Grafton.
