Obituary for Jean M. Drago

GRAFTON – Jean M. (Hurley) Drago, 83, passed peacefully at home Monday May 16, 2016 in the love and care of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years William B. Drago, with whom she would have celebrated their 60th anniversary September 3rd of this year. She also leaves her loving children, Vincent "Jimmy" Drago, John W. Drago, Janice C. Arrigo, her husband Glenn and their children, Tyler, Brooke and Scott. Jean also leaves her cherished aunt Mary Penella of North Quincy, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jean was born July 19, 1932 in Medford MA the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Bottini) Hurley. She was raised in Medford and was a 1950 graduate of Somerville High School. She began her working career with John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Boston. She then married her husband Bill on September 3, 1956 and they then moved to Grafton in 1969 where they raised their family. Jean was a longtime employee of The Town of Grafton retiring as The Treasurer / Collector for the town. She also was a volunteer librarian at The North Street Elementary School and she helped her husband Bill at the Grafton Senior Center. Jean was a devout parishioner of St. Philips Church where she taught Religious Education and volunteered at many church Christmas fairs. Jean's most precious asset was always her family. She enjoyed arts, crafts, toll painting and was well known as the "Neighborhood Mom" of Keith Hill. Her family suggests you honor and remember Jean with donations to The Grafton Senior Center, 30 Providence Road, Grafton Municipal Center, Grafton MA 01519.
Funeral & Calling Hours
Jean's funeral will be Friday May 20th from The Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street, North Grafton (Rt. 122 & 140) followed by the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 11 am at her Parish Church of St. Philip, 12 West Street, Grafton Center. She will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. All are invited to join her family at calling hours Thursday May 19th from 5 to 8 pm at the Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton.
