Obituary for
MICHAEL Z. ERAMO
Grafton/Holyoke – Michael Z. Eramo, 72, a resident of The Soldier's Home in Holyoke and former resident of Grafton passed away on February 28, 2015 due to complications of Alzheimer's.
He leaves his wife, confidant, caregiver and best friend of 48 years, Lauren, his daughter, Deborah and her husband Thomas and their children, Jessica, Joshua, Samantha all of Oxford & Elizabeth of Auburn, his son, Mark Eramo and his wife Danielle and their children Grace and Luke all of Woodbridge, VA. He also leaves three sisters, Rose Marie Eramo, Rita MacElman and Elena Eramo all of Brunswick, ME, two brothers, Dominic Eramo of Brunswick, ME and his family, and Anthony Eramo of Saco, ME and his family. He was predeceased by a sister Filomena Eramo. Michael was born in Bath, ME and son of the late Domenica (Masselli) and Zachiele Eramo.
He graduated from Brunswick High School and a Trade School in Boston prior to being drafted into the Army in 1964. He served in Korea with Nike Hercules Missile Battalion Clementon, NJ as a mechanic. A short time later he met his future bride, Lauren and was married in 1966. Shortly following his discharge, they move to Massachusetts where he worked for Trucklease Corporation for several years prior to opening his own business, E Z Maintenance in 1975 as a tractor trailer repair specialist and closed in 2001 due to illness.
Michael was an avid ten pin bowler, national, state and local instruction coach and mentor of bowling and was recently inducted into the Worcester County Hall of Fame. He and his wife ran a youth bowling league in which "Coach Mike" knew every single child by name and many moved on to be accomplished bowlers. He had a great passion for working with kids. He also enjoyed travelling with family, boating, building and fixing everything. He was the most kind, devoted and loving husband, rational, dedicated and hands on father and caring grandfather. He also served as Chief Ranger of the Independent Order of Foresters for many years.
He always had a calm and gentle demeanor and was known for his advice and discussions and touched so many. He was a true inspiration to all that knew him, a hero to his son and a genuine icon as a husband, dad and Papa.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with family to honor and celebrate Michael's life with calling hours Tuesday March 3rd from 4pm to 6pm followed by a Remembrance Service at 6pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. Burial will be private in the Agawam Veteran's Cemetery.
