Obituary for
MILTON F. CO "MILTY" ER Jr. Op
GRAFTON: Milton F. "Milty" Cooper, Jr., 72, passed away December 7, 2014 after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Marie J. (Chaput) Cooper, his children Marc Cooper, Denise Cooper and her wife Judith, Scott Cooper and Michele Gremo and her husband Greg, his grandchildren Ava and Mia Gremo and Jennifer Talcott who will dearly miss their beloved "Pa", great-grandchildren Niya, Kailee and Austin Talcott, his brother Richard Cooper and his wife Josie, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Milty was born May 25, 1942 in Milford, son of the late Lillian (Plouf) and Milton F. Cooper, Sr. He grew up in Milford and Bellingham where even at an early age he and his brother Richard were never far from mischief. He joined the Coast Guard at age 18 and was stationed at Watch Hill, RI. Milty worked at the Grafton Police Department, owned and operated Coops Country Kitchen along with his wife Marie and also worked at the Worcester Telegram for several years. Milty's friends and family would be quick to share that work was never what defined him, though. His broad smile, love of the outdoors, devotion to his family and his spirit that kept him a cowboy at heart are his legacy. Milty received a heart transplant more than 24 years ago and was one of the longest surviving recipients in the Brigham and Women's Hospital program. While the people who loved him grieve his loss, there is solace to be found in how Milty used the gift of all those years that followed the transplant. Milty loved to camp with Marie and many friends over the years, especially to Myrtle Beach and Maine, and he looked forward to hunting trips in Vermont with his son Scott and his friends. Saturday mornings you would often find Milty holding court with friends at any one of several coffee shops. In lieu of flowers his family requests you honor him with donations to The Sterling Animal Shelter 17 Laurelwood Road Sterling, MA 01564 or Heart Transplant & Mechanical Circulatory Support Program c/o Brigham and Women's Hospital 75 Francis St. Boston, MA 02115. All are invited to gather with Milty's family and friends Wednesday December 10th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a Remembrance Service at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
