Obituary for
RICHARD E. ENGVALL
Richard Emerson Engvall, 82, passed peacefully at home Sunday December 30, 2012 in the care and love of his family. He leaves his devoted wife, Virginia (Ainsworth) Engvall; three sons and daughters in law, Bert and Cynthia Engvall of Upton, Eric and Debra Houlden-Engvall of Kodiak AK, Carl and Caroline Engvall of Bristol VT; seven grandchildren, Luke, Hans, Anna, Nathaniel, Samuel, Noah and Helen; one sister, Regina (Engvall) Krusas of Sturbridge; many nieces, nephews, friends and his church family at The Baptist Church of Grafton. Mr. Engvall was born in Worcester April 12, 1930 the son of the late August and Bertha (Lundquist) Engvall and has lived many years in Grafton. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from North Dakota State University and a Master's Degree in Education from Worcester State College. He served his country as a Korean War Veteran in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 before embarking on a long and rewarding career as a high school mathematics teacher, first in Grafton and then in Framingham retiring in 1992. One man in his time plays many parts and Rich was no exception. He was by turns a sailor, skier, gardener, photographer, apple orchard owner, Christmas tree farmer, world traveler and a yard sale enthusiast. In lieu of flowers, people can remember Rich with memorial donations to The Baptist Church of Grafton, PO Box 304, or The Grafton Food Bank, PO Box 324, both of Grafton MA 01519.
FUNERAL SERVICE
A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday January 5th at 11 am at The Baptist Church of Grafton, 1 South St. Grafton MA 01519. There are no calling hours, however the family will gather with friends and family in The Russell Hall of the church following the service.
