Obituary for PHYLLIS ANN ELLIS

GRAFTON: Phyllis A. (Merritt) Ellis, 74, passed March 24, 2011 at home in the care of her loving family from complications of ovarian cancer. She is survived by her seven children; Dwight D. and his wife Donna, Wendy J. Ellis both of Worcester, Brian H. and his wife Kerri, Donna M. Ellis, Sharon L. Ellis all of Grafton, Beverly M. O��(TM)Connor and her husband Roy of Douglas, Beckie L. Kruger and her husband Christian of Webster, 13 Grandchildren, 1 Great grandson, many nieces, nephews, many good friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Mildred (Erickson) Merritt, one brother Henry C. Merritt Jr., two sisters, Shirley Amidon, Beverly Damik and her grandson Andrew Ellis. Mrs. Ellis was born January 28, 1937 in Worcester and raised there graduating from Commerce High School. She has lived in Grafton for 54 years. Mrs. Ellis worked over 20 years at Sprague Electric Co. in Worcester and after retiring she worked at the South Grafton and Sutton post offices and was still working at the time of her passing. She was a member of Union Congregational Church and a longtime volunteer at its thrift shop. Phyllis was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan and she loved to follow the activities of her grandchildren. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to U Mass Memorial Hospice for their kindness and care to their mother in her time of need. Memorial donations are suggested in lieu of flowers to The Union Congregational Church Thrift Shop, PO Box 43 South Grafton MA 01560.
Funeral & Calling Hours
All are invited to calling hours at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME SOUTH GRAFTON CHAPEL 124 Main St. SOUTH GRAFTON Sunday March 27th from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral services are Monday March 28th at 10 am in The Union Congregational Church 86 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
